Alternative Land Use Services (ALUS)

The ALUS program is being re-launched and delivered District-wide. Funding for the program was secured from the W. Garfield Weston Foundation and the Lake Winnipeg Basin Stewardship Fund. The Little Saskatchewan River Conservation District will be coordinating the program and are looking for interested producers.

Types of landowner projects that may qualify include:

  • Wetlands
    • Restore, example – plug
    • Enhance, example – fence around
    • Create, i.e. make new
    • Conserve, i.e. existing
  • Riparian
    • Fencing
    • Off-site water
    • Grass with buffer
  • Upland
    • Native Prairie
    • Shelterbelts
    • Tame
